Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, DSc, chief urologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, chief external specialist urologist of the Moscow Healthcare Department, head of the Urology Department of the Russian University of Medicine, head of the Moscow Urology Center based in the S.P. Botkin Moscow Multidisciplinary Scientific and Clinical Center.

Under Academician Pushkar’s supervision, more than 40 PhD and DSc dissertations were successfully defended. Academician Pushkar is a though leader in the sphere of reconstructive and rehabilitative urology, is a recognized international authority on surgical treatment of urinary incontinence in women, and a surgical technique using a short skin flap that he developed is rightfully called “the Russian suture” around the world.

One of the first surgeons to incorporate the Da Vinci robotic systems in Russian healthcare system. In 2008, Academician Pushkar performed the first in Moscow robot-assisted surgery to remove cancerous prostate using the Da Vinci (surgical robot).

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Pushkar stepped up as the chief clinical researcher of the Areplivir medication[4]. With his help, the City Clinical Hospital named after S.I. Spasokukotsky was fully repurposed for hospitalization of patients with the coronavirus infection.

Academician Pushkar is an experienced leader, practicing urological surgeon, active scientist. He continues to lead the charge and develop progressive techniques for diagnosis and treatment of urologic diseases. He regularly visits clinics in other countries to exchange experience, try new ideas and technologies to further improve and implement them in Russia.

Academician Pushkar has authored more the 1000 scientific publications, 50 monographs and guidelines, 10 of which were co-authored by the leading Western urologists and published in Europe and the US. Being a lecturer and surgeon of international level, he is often invited to various European and American congresses, master classes and conferences (since 2001).
